Brittany

A mysterious woman encountered on the Voss Campus who Sammy initially believed might be a celebrity.

A mysterious woman encountered on the Voss Campus who Sammy initially believed might be a celebrity. She is extraordinarily athletic — fast enough to beat Sammy in an obstacle course race even when he was wearing a power suit. She moves through the course with an ease that suggests extensive familiarity with military-grade physical training.

Known Abilities

Self-Duplication: Brittany can create multiple copies of herself by clapping her hands. One clap produces a second Brittany; a second clap produces four. The duplicates appear identical and apparently independent. The mechanism — fragment power, psionics, or something else — is unknown.

Key Events

  • Raced Sammy on the obstacle course twice (once unsuited, once while he wore power armour). Won both times.
  • Visited Sammy’s quarters that evening, expressing jealousy about his conversation with Mary Jane.
  • Demonstrated her duplication power in Sammy’s room before spending the night.
  • Was gone before morning.

Session 05 Update

Brittany appeared at the team briefing alongside Major Jenkins’ second team (Jenkins, Miller, Thompson). She had shaved her head entirely to fit her combat helmet — confirming she is now an official member of Jenkins’ operational team and wears a Voss Combat Suit.

During the briefing, she demonstrated her power at an unprecedented scale: clapping her hands and producing eight identical copies of herself, all of which stared down Sammy and demanded to know “if she was the only one.” Sammy replied with composure that he supposed she was now. Seven copies vanished.

Later, Brittany followed the team to Las Vegas during their 48-hour pass. She arrived at the Medieval Times parking lot during the insect attack with multiple duplicates, all firing at the swarm while screaming Sammy’s name and berating him for abandoning her. Her emotional state during the combat was furious.

Known Abilities (Updated)

Self-Duplication: Upper limit now confirmed at minimum eight copies from a single clap activation. Copies appear identical, independent, and capable of independent combat actions (firing weapons). Copies can be dismissed at will.

Open Questions

  • Is she fragment-empowered? A Voss experiment? Something else entirely? Still unknown mechanism, but she is now a confirmed Voss operative.
  • Why is she on the base? She is an official member of Jenkins’ team.
  • What does she want from Sammy? Is this obsession, genuine feeling, or something else?
  • How did she follow the team to Vegas? Did she have orders, or did she go AWOL?
  • Can her duplicates operate independently at long range, or must they stay near the original?
  • How many can she produce in rapid succession during sustained combat?

Session 06 Update

Continuing the Session 05 cliffhanger, Brittany was in the Medieval Times parking lot with roughly five to six clones, all firing into the insect swarm. When Jenkins delivered the new Los Angeles zombie mission, Brittany chose to join it alongside Sammy and Jens — deploying as “the original Brittany” rather than a duplicate. In L.A., she destroyed a zombie with a clean headshot.

Session 07 Update

Brittany joined the Vegas strike team. She put her cloning power to tactical use, sealing multiple hive holes simultaneously with separate clone teams. Two of those teams were swarmed by around 20 bugs and badly outnumbered — Sammy and Jenkins had to rush in to rescue them.

MAJOR — relationship ended: Brittany ended her relationship with Sammy. She arrived at his door with Igor — her returned former flame, now back as the Voss lead scientist — to announce that the two of them are back together.

Session 08 Update — Power Expansion (Multiversal Summoning)

MAJOR power reveal. Brittany’s ability is far more than simple self-duplication: she can summon versions of herself from across the multiverse / alternate timelines, not merely spawn local copies. The act is physically draining — she fainted after one attempt.

Key uses this session:

  • She accidentally summoned a skeleton bearing the Multiversal Camera, the device that provided the party’s prophetic footage of the coming battle.
  • She later summoned many timeline-versions of herself to collaboratively build the party’s tactical blueprint for the fight. To sustain this, Jens siphoned electricity to recharge her, counteracting the drain.
  • One alternate-timeline Brittany shared a romantic moment with Jens.

She came to the RD3 Facility with Igor, her current partner.

Known Abilities (Session 08 Revision)

Multiversal/Timeline Self-Summoning: Beyond local duplication, Brittany can pull alternate-timeline versions of herself into the present — distinct individuals with their own experiences, not mere copies. This is what produced both the camera-bearing skeleton and the chorus of selves who assembled the tactical blueprint. The power is energy-intensive and exhausting, and can be recharged externally via electricity (Jens’s siphoning).

Session 09 Update — The Conduit, and a Monster Among Her Selves

[!note] Reconciled (Session 09): canon (past preserved, future changed).

The full danger of Brittany’s multiversal summoning surfaced. Among the ~thirty alternate-timeline selves she had assembled for the “Britney Relay Force” intelligence effort was a hostile, corrupted duplicateBad Britney, glowing-eyed and bearing crescent bear-trap wounds — who turned out to be a vessel for the Alpha Predator and killed Jens on sight.

It was also confirmed that the party’s own Brittany is the conduit holding the whole web of duplicates in place: when Ronnie knocked her out with a psychic assault, every other duplicate in the room vanished instantly (every one except Bad Britney, who was sustained by the entity). Her post-rewrite status is undetermined.

(Naming: the export spells her “Britney”; vault canon is Brittany. Bad Britney is recorded as the hostile variant.)
