Voss Combat Suit

Summary

The Voss Combat Suit is a highly experimental full-body tactical armor system developed by Voss Dynamics using technology derived from meteor fragments. The suit resembles a sophisticated blend of military tactical gear and sleek tactical armor, with visual elements reminiscent of advanced combat uniforms. It represents the cutting edge of Voss R&D capabilities and is currently the only operational suit of its kind.

Major Jenkins is the first operative to be fitted with a Voss Combat Suit, serving as both the primary test subject and tactical asset for the team. The suit dramatically enhances Jenkins’ combat effectiveness through passive defense and active weapon systems. The team has been promised they will receive their own suits following successful completion of their first mission, suggesting Voss Dynamics intends to outfit the entire strike team with this technology.

The suit’s power source remains one of the operation’s deepest mysteries—it is powered by an unknown element derived from the meteor fragments that form part of the broader The Meteor Event. The mechanism of this power generation is not yet understood by the team.

Properties / Stats

Defensive Ratings:

  • Torso: DR 70 (passive)
  • All other locations: DR 50 (passive)

Enhancements:

  • Enhanced Strength: Provides significant boost to carrying capacity and melee damage potential
  • Enhanced Jumping: Substantially increases vertical and horizontal jumping distance
  • Integrated Weapon System: Contains Sonic Weapon

Power System:

  • Unknown element derived from meteor fragments
  • Sufficient capacity for extended operations
  • Sonic Weapon activation completely drains power reserves (see Sonic Weapon for details)

Kill Switch:

  • Suits can be remotely locked down by command, freezing the wearer in place. Demonstrated twice on Ronnie Vint during Session 04 (Norway and Russia parachute landing). The wearer can still speak but cannot move.

Suit Feed:

  • All suits broadcast visual and audio feed back to command in real time.

Fragment Detector:

  • Upgraded to 100-yard detection range (up from 50 yards).

Chameleon Camouflage:

  • Thermo-Optic Chameleon Surface adapts suit coloration and thermal signature to surroundings (Ronnie, Jens).

Invisibility Surface:

  • Full optical invisibility but drains 50% suit power (Sammy).

Retractable Blade:

  • Very Fine retractable forearm blade. +2 to cutting damage.

Storm Chainguns:

  • Dual-linked 10mmCLR storm chainguns — Ronnie’s suit.

Acidic Vulnerability:

  • The Fragment Bear’s acidic properties corroded suits to rusted husks, demonstrating that DR 70/50 is not invulnerable.

Appearance:

  • Full-body coverage tactical design
  • Visually evokes Snake Eyes tactical aesthetic mixed with Noir-influenced design elements
  • Integrated equipment mounting points
  • Sealed environmental system

Appearances

  • [Session 01 - Operation Living Bomb](…/chapters/Chapter 1 - The Hungry God/Sessions/session-01-operation-living-bomb.html): Major Jenkins deploys the suit during Operation Living Bomb. The Sonic Weapon system successfully incapacitates The Exploding Man.
  • [Session 04 - Fallen Stars](…/chapters/Chapter 1 - The Hungry God/Sessions/session-04-fallen-stars.html) — Kill switch demonstrated; suits corroded by Fragment Bear; fragment detectors upgraded to 100 yards; various suit features used in combat
  • [Session 06 - Vegas Vacation, Zombie Vexation](…/chapters/Chapter 1 - The Hungry God/Sessions/session-06-vegas-vacation-zombie-vexation.html) — Jenkins’s leap ability used for a point-blank escape and explosive round
  • [Session 07 - The Vegas Hive - Napalm and New Powers](…/chapters/Chapter 1 - The Hungry God/Sessions/session-07-the-vegas-hive-napalm-and-new-powers.html) — Firmware kill-command found and removed by Ronnie; Concoction BA corrosion observed; Silhouette Software and tracking add-ons fielded

Session 06–07 Updates

  • Firmware kill-command vulnerability: A remote-disable kill command can be covertly planted in a suit’s helmet firmware. Miller did exactly this to Guy’s suit via R&D scientist Jimmy Johns; Ronnie found and removed it. This is distinct from the official command kill switch — a hidden, sabotage-grade variant.
  • Insecticide corrosion: The alien insecticide Concoction BA corrodes suit armor after roughly 2 hours of exposure, with full failure about 1 hour later. (Compare the Fragment Bear’s acid above — chemical agents remain a key weakness.)
  • New TL10 add-ons fielded: Silhouette Software (target ID painted directly onto the HUD) and tracking software; upgraded batteries.
  • Leap ability: The suit’s enhanced leap was used to great effect by Jenkins — a point-blank escape combined with an explosive round.
