Overview
The endgame against the Alpha Predator (the Hungry God) opened not with the party’s carefully built plan but with disaster. During the multiversal Brittany interviews on the third floor of Voss R&D (the RD3 Facility), a hostile alternate-timeline duplicate — Bad Britney — skeletonized Jens without warning, revealing herself as the entity’s vessel. The fight that followed proved, in the flesh, the cosmology’s central rule: kill the host and the god simply jumps to a stronger one.
What Happened
- Mid-interview, Bad Britney stripped the flesh from Jens, reducing him to bones; his consciousness persisted, disembodied, perceiving every powered individual as a glowing “doorway.”
- Jens projected himself into Dragon — the brightest power in the room — seizing the body while Dragon’s own persona screamed within. Ronnie and Sammy, with their own spiritual perception, watched the transfer happen.
- Ronnie focused a lifetime of hatred into a psychic assault that knocked out the party’s own Brittany, the conduit — instantly dismissing every other duplicate in the room. Only Bad Britney remained, dropping to one knee.
- Sammy grew an arm and cratered the floor where Bad Britney stood (she dodged). Guy scrounged a high-tech assault rifle and took a flanking position.
- Jens, in Dragon’s body, grabbed a heavy desk, flipped it, and pulverized Bad Britney into red mist.
- The host-jump: the red mist immediately poured into Dragon, ejecting Jens back into spectral form. The entity now wore one of the most powerful bodies on the board.
- Ronnie hammered the possessed Dragon with another psychic assault; Sammy landed a massive fatigue-blow; Guy swung the rifle butt at Dragon’s skull and missed as Dragon’s head bowed at the last instant.
- Across the room, the Regenerator worked to rebuild Jens’s body from his remaining bones.
Why This Matters
- Demonstrated the host-jump-on-death rule live (see cosmology) and proved the party’s “stun-and-drain” blueprint could fail catastrophically at the worst moment.
- Left the party with no winnable move by force — the entity now in Dragon, Jens bodiless — which drove the desperate gambit of The Timeline Rewind.
- Dragon’s fate is left unresolved by the rewrite that followed.
