The Regenerator
Summary
The Regenerator (surname: Garcetti) is a world-renowned meta-human hero with extraordinary healing abilities. Previously known only from Adrian Voss’s briefing as an anonymous, elusive target, his identity became public through his marriage to Jane Garcetti. He is one of the most beloved public figures in the world, famous for healing injured civilians, reversing catastrophic injuries, and curing terminal illnesses.
His wife Jane Garcetti was killed in a multi-vehicle crash outside Flagstaff, Arizona. Regenerator was in Los Angeles and could not reach her in time. He withdrew from public life after her death; he is now secured at Voss Campus (see Current Status).
Known Abilities
- Accelerated Healing: Reverses catastrophic injuries, cures terminal illnesses in others
- Self-Healing: Survives wounds that would kill a normal person
- Proximity-Dependent: Abilities require physical proximity; cannot heal at distance
- Condition-Dependent: Not limitless; depends on physical condition of patient
- Public Demonstrations: Videos exist of him healing injured civilians within seconds
- Duration: Active for “the last three months” — powers emerged shortly after The Meteor Event (~2019-03-11); confirmed fragment-empowered
Intelligence Summary
The Session 01 briefing listed Regenerator as “fragment-empowered” by The Meteor Event. The Chicago Tribune article confirms his abilities emerged “the last three months” — consistent with the meteor event (~2019-03-11). His powers are confirmed fragment-derived, making him the most powerful known healer among fragment-empowered individuals. The speed of his rise to global fame in just three months is remarkable.
Current Status
Alive. Secured and resident at Voss Campus since Session 06, cooperating with Voss. Retroactively identified as the Las Vegas “man with glowing hands” who healed a mime on the Las Vegas Strip in Session 03. Following Jane Garcetti’s death he attempted to resurrect her, causing the Los Angeles zombie plague (Patient Zero); he was bitten in the process and now spends most of his healing power suppressing the infection rather than healing others (Session 08) — making him both a potential superweapon and a containment liability. In the reconciled Session 09 timeline he reconstructed Jens during The Battle of RD3; the prophesied “final host” fate never came to pass.
Threat level: minimal. Value / containment level: critical.
Session 06 Update
The Regenerator was finally brought to the team in person — in Los Angeles, by The Dragon, confirming he is the “man with glowing hands.” He revealed the devastating truth behind the Los Angeles zombie plague: he caused it. After his wife Jane Garcetti died in the Flagstaff crash (Session 05), he used his powers to try to resurrect her. She came back wrong — a feral undead who became Patient Zero, the source of the outbreak. This confirms Patient Zero is the reanimated Jane Garcetti.
He believes another meteor fragment could cure her. He was transported to Voss Campus, where Voss agreed to help and secured both the Regenerator and Patient Zero. He is cooperating, deeply grieving, and now resident at the base.
Session 07 Update
The Regenerator remains at Voss Campus while the situation is assessed. He was not directly featured on-screen this session.
Session 08 Update
Hidden zombie bite revealed. The Regenerator disclosed that he was bitten by his wife — Patient Zero / Jane Garcetti — and that he is spending most of his healing power simply suppressing the infection rather than healing others. This makes him both a walking superweapon and a containment liability.
The party theorized that the zombie virus may be the one thing The Hungry God cannot survive — raising the possibility of using the Regenerator (or his infected blood) as a weapon against the entity. He healed Miller during the RD3 Facility interrogation, keeping the prisoner alive to extract a full confession.
Prophetic footage (grim). In the prophetic footage of the coming battle, the Regenerator becomes the entity’s final host — his eyes turn red, he screams, and everyone nearby is skeletonized. This caps the containment-liability fear: the man keeping the infection at bay is, in at least one timeline, where everything ends.
Session 09 Update — Bone by Sinew
[!note] Reconciled (Session 09): canon (past preserved, future changed).
When Bad Britney stripped Jens to a skeleton in the R&D battle, the Regenerator worked frantically across the room to reconstruct Jens’s body from his remaining bones and sinew — slowly rebuilding the man even as Jens’s consciousness was leaping between other hosts. The reconstruction was still underway when the timeline reset. The dread foreshadowed by the prophecy (the Regenerator as the entity’s final, world-ending host) never came to pass in this branch — the Alpha Predator was destroyed at its origin before it could reach him.
