Hive Queen

Abilities

  • sentience
  • human mind-control

Summary

The reproductive core of the Las Vegas Terran Insectoid colony — a massive, many-armed insectoid queen that anchored the entire hive. She was destroyed by the team during [Session 07 - The Vegas Hive - Napalm and New Powers](…/chapters/Chapter 1 - The Hungry God/Sessions/session-07-the-vegas-hive-napalm-and-new-powers.html).

Description

The Hive Queen stood roughly 30 feet tall and was many-armed, surrounded by thousands of eggs in a massive cavern (the The Queen’s Chamber) approximately 80 meters below the Nevada desert. She tended her brood continuously. The chamber was guarded by standard soldier bugs as well as a new horned “warrior” variant not previously documented.

Abilities

Specific game-mechanical abilities are unrecorded. As the colony’s reproductive core she produced the eggs that sustained and grew the hive; the existence of the new horned warrior variant suggests she could produce specialized caste forms. Exact combat capabilities are unknown.

Session 08 — Sentience and Mind-Control revealed. A Hive Queen is now confirmed sentient and capable of mind-controlling humans. She delivered a message to the team through a mind-controlled Chinese scientist, demonstrating she can hijack a human host to communicate across distance. The message revealed deep hive memory: The Hungry God has devoured their planet (Terra) before and deliberately leaves the bugs alive as livestock — a breeding stock kept to repopulate the world for a future harvest. She is furious over the destruction of her Vegas offspring (the Session 07 hive).

Session 08 — The Speaking Queen (Continuity Flag)

CONTINUITY FLAG (for GM): The Vegas Hive Queen documented in this file was incinerated in Session 07 (napalm + insecticide + explosive drones, kill confirmed). The Hive Queen who speaks in Session 08 therefore cannot be the same individual. This speaking entity is most likely either the broader hive consciousness (a single networked intelligence spanning all queens) or a separate China-theatre queen. GM should decide whether the hive is one networked mind or multiple distinct queens — this affects whether killing any one queen meaningfully damages the whole.

Additional Session 08 intel: the Chinese attempted to weaponize the bugs using stolen portal tech, but the bugs turned on them and took over China — a cautionary parallel to Terra’s livestock relationship with the entity.

Weaknesses

  • Vulnerable to concentrated insecticide gas, like the rest of the colony.
  • Stationary and tied to her chamber, making her susceptible to area-denial weapons (gas, fire, explosives).

Game Stats (if known)

Not recorded.

Relationships

Appearances

  • [Session 07 - The Vegas Hive - Napalm and New Powers](…/chapters/Chapter 1 - The Hungry God/Sessions/session-07-the-vegas-hive-napalm-and-new-powers.html) — Located and destroyed. The team gassed the chamber with concentrated insecticide, poured in 22 barrels of homemade napalm, then flew two explosive-rigged drones into her corpse to confirm the kill.
  • [Session 08 - Earth’s Last Stand](…/chapters/Chapter 1 - The Hungry God/Sessions/session-08-earths-last-stand.html) — A Hive Queen (the broader consciousness or a separate China-theatre queen — see Continuity Flag) revealed as sentient; mind-controlled a Chinese scientist to deliver a message that The Hungry God has devoured Terra before and keeps the bugs as livestock for future harvests; expressed fury over the destroyed Vegas offspring; the Chinese tried to weaponize the bugs with stolen portal tech and lost China to them.
