Summary
Mayhem is a fragment-empowered meta-human capable of manipulating probability and causing cascading “bad luck” — infrastructure failures, unlikely accidents, environmental hazards that compound beyond normal explanation. Described as a “known meta-human” by authorities, suggesting prior incidents before the May 2019 Los Angeles battle.
He was subdued by The Dragon in downtown Los Angeles on 2019-05-03 and taken into custody unconscious.
Known Abilities
- Probability Manipulation: Causes extreme bad luck in his vicinity — cascading failures, unlikely accidents, systems breaking in sequence
- Area Effect: Witnesses reported cars rolling on their own, lights failing simultaneously, hydrants bursting, gas lines rupturing — suggests a wide radius of effect
- Passive/Persistent: The effects appear continuous rather than targeted, making the surrounding area hazardous for everyone
The Dean Winters Connection
Allstate cut ties with actor Dean Winters — who portrayed the advertising character “Mayhem” — after he was “publicly revealed to possess similar abilities.” Whether Mayhem (the villain) IS Dean Winters or a separate individual with the same power set is unclear from the article alone.
Current Status
In custody as of 2019-05-03. Captured unconscious by The Dragon in downtown Los Angeles.
