A tall, three-legged, three-armed alien defender of Terra, encountered in the planet’s deep past after Jens reversed time. He stood alone in a green field, sword in hand, eyes on the sky, waiting for the Alpha Predator to fall. Warned by the party of the entity’s host-jumping nature, he chose self-sacrifice over a doomed victory — destroying the creature in a way that left it nowhere to jump.
He matches the figure depicted in the statue at the centre of the ruined city (a three-eyed, three-armed, three-legged humanoid holding a blade aloft) and represents the Terran civilization at its height, before its fall.
Description
Appearance, mannerisms, personality.
Tall and three-limbed in both arms and legs, communicating by direct telepathy. Composed and resolute. When the party arrived he sensed them immediately and asked, mind to mind, whether they were friend or foe. On receiving Jens’s warning he stood in silence for a moment, set his sword down in the grass, and met the falling horror unarmed and willing to die.
Background
History, motivations, secrets.
In the established (now-overwritten) history, Terra’s champion defeated the old devourer only to become the new Hungry God — the host-jump that doomed the planet (see cosmology). In the rewritten timeline the party reached this champion before that battle and gave him the one missing piece of knowledge: that killing the creature would damn him and his world. Forewarned, he flew the Alpha Predator into the nearest sun, dying with it — total annihilation with no nearby host, breaking the cycle at its origin.
